About

I'm a mathematician interested in understanding how AI systems work. My PhD, from the University of Waterloo, is in complex algebraic geometry, and I want to bring its tools (geometry, moduli, stability) to AI safety research, starting with the question of what trained models actually learn.
Before Waterloo I studied mathematics at UNSA in Peru and did a master's at Unicamp in Brazil. Alongside my PhD I trained in data science, and later deep learning, at the Erdős Institute, building models for loan default, drug potency and audio classification in teams of fellow PhDs. Since then I've kept building with machine learning, from fine-tuning language models to co-founding CycleBuddy, a women's health app where users own their data.
I'm open to AI safety research positions, as well as machine learning and data science roles.
Outside work, I like learning about ancient civilizations, writing books and stories, and building side projects like KarmaKitApp and an AI agent marketplace.
